With an aim to reach net zero by 2030, the learning team identified climate literacy among its people as crucial to achieving that. With Elucidat, the National Trust has created a dynamic elearning solution that not only educates but inspires climate action across its entire workforce.
Introduction
With more than 70,000 learners, the National Trust is Europe’s biggest conservation charity. Tackling climate change to help people and nature thrive sits top of its agenda. But it can feel overwhelming.
Partnering with the Elucidat Learning Consultancy team, the National Trust embarked on a journey to remove trepidation, and instead bring accessible, engaging, and inspiring climate change learning to its staff and volunteers, everywhere.

What were the National Trust’s learning goals?

After the National Trust’s subject matter experts had agreed the content for the elearning itself, it was the job of Elucidat’s Learning Consultancy team to come up trumps and design an elearning course that delivered this in a fresh, engaging way.
The Learning Consultancy team:
- Came up with an eye catching, branded look and feel for the elearning
- Set out a suggested structure for the content with reflective questions and interactions that added value and encouraged engagement
- Reviewed and fine-tuned the content with the National Trust team so it met its objectives, and deadlines.

Outcomes so far
The elearning has already become a key part of the National Trust’s climate strategy. It has provided a complementary tool kit and conversation starter that teams can use and is being rolled out organization wide.
Already, this is being implemented as pre-learning for the National Trust’s leadership programme.
